  • Virtual training center - We offer a broad selection of webinars at no cost to State employees. You can participate in an upcoming webinar or watch a replay of an old class.
  • Leadership guides - Use these guides to build and improve in 16 leadership competencies.
  • Statewide Training Portal - Stay on top of training, network with fellow trainers, and find resources to help you conduct training.
  • Basic Supervisory Training - A free, online option departments can use for mandatory 80-hour basic supervisory training.
  • Supervisory Training material from CDCR - Developed by the Sacramento State University College of Continuing Education, this 11-course supervisory training meets the requirement for structured training and can be used for employee development as well. CDCR gave limited and specific permission for California State agencies to use these materials to train employees.
  • Supervisors and Managers virtual help desk - Reference and training to help supervisors and managers with tough aspects of their jobs.
  • Analyst virtual help desk - Reference and training for both current and prospective analysts.
  • Online books - The California State Library lets you read many books for free from any State computer, or from any other computer when you enter your State Library account number. You can browse the Library's catalog from any computer. If you have questions, please email the library, call (916) 654-0261, or visit the State Information and Reference Center at 914 Capitol Mall, Room 301, Sacramento.
  • Video archive at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy - The Panetta Institute provides study opportunities in government, politics and public policy, and sponsors a range of other activities to benefit the surrounding communities.

  • CPS Human Resource Services - CPS provides training courses for government employees. Contact CPS by email or call (916) 263-3614, option 3.
  • Centre for Organization Effectiveness - The Centre offers competency-based training in management and organization development, as well as specialized leadership development and training.
  • Golden Gate University - Graduate and undergraduate degree programs in business, law, taxation, accounting, and related professions, designed for working adults. Day, evening and weekend courses are available year-round at the San Francisco campus, as well as online through the university's award-winning CyberCampus.   • Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center - An extension of American River College, the Public Safety Training Center provides specialized training for Public Safety personnel, as well as leadership, supervision, and planning training for non-public safety personnel.   • Training Source Governmental Training Academy - Specializes in management and supervisory training, analytical, communication and other technical and soft skills training for state and local governmental agencies. Contact the Training Source GTA by email or call (916) 563-3230.
  • UC Davis Extension - Offers classes in supervision, management, and leadership, certificate programs in Labor Relations and Project Management , and an annual program in the foundations of public policy, the State budget, and the hearing process.
