DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This classification is distinguished by the fact that employment is for less than six months' duration with no permanent employment. Its duration may vary from an hour to several months or longer, dependent upon the size and complexity of the project, and number of persons available to complete the job. Although the employment may be recurrent, it is definitely of a broken nature and assignment is from job to job. TYPICAL TASKS Does miscellaneous unskilled tasks as a helper for various building construction tradespersons; assists in moving tools and equipment; loads, unloads, and segregates supplies; lifts and moves heavy objects; stacks lumber; cleans used lumber; may help mix concrete or assist bricklayers and cement finishers; digs and levels grounds; does cleanup work following completion of a job.
