Distinguishing Characteristics This classification is distinguished by the fact that employment is for less than six months' duration with no permanent employment. Its duration may vary from an hour to several months or longer, dependent upon the size and complexity of the project and number of persons available to complete the job. Although the employment may be recurrent, it is definitely of a broken nature and assignment is from job to job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Registration in an applicable apprenticeship program for the trade involved. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: Basic arithmetic, spelling and grammar. Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn rapidly; follow directions; acquire acceptable work habits such as punctuality, skill, neatness and dependability; work safely; apply mechanical principles when applicable; recognize and relate objects to one another from different spatial perspectives; work at moderate heights when applicable; make satisfactory progress in the prescribed academic and practical work in an approved apprenticeship program. SPECIAL PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Normal color vision when applicable; willingness to work under close supervision and willingness to improve knowledge and efficiency.
