JOB CHARACTERISTICS Employees in this class are employed on a permanent-intermittent basis to provide temporary help to State departments during unanticipated absences of regular clerical employees or periods of peak work load. Typically, assignments to a particular position within a department will not exceed two to four weeks in duration. TYPICAL TASKS Receives, opens, time stamps, and sorts mail; addresses, stuffs and stamps envelopes, files materials in established files according to specified procedures; assists in maintaining card indexes and mailing lists; fills in and sends out form and circular letters; and answers telephones and refers calls as directed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance. ABILITIES Ability to: Learn and perform simple clerical work; follow oral and written directions.
