Employees shall be entitled to the following holidays. Sunday, July 4, 1999 Independence Day* Monday, September 6, 1999 Labor Day Monday, October 11, 1999 Columbus Day Thursday, November 11, 1999 Veterans Day Thursday, November 25, 1999 Thanksgiving Day Friday, November 26, 1999 Day after Thanksgiving Saturday, December 25, 1999 Christmas Day** Saturday, January 1, 2000 New Year's Day** Monday, January 17, 2000 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Saturday, February 12, 2000 Lincoln's Birthday** Monday, February 21, 2000 Washington's Birthday Monday, May 29, 2000 Memorial Day * When a holiday falls on a Sunday, employees shall be entitled to the following Monday as a holiday with pay. ** The Saturday holiday provision is contained in Management Memo 98-023, which provides clarification on how this holiday provision will be administered. In addition to these holidays, there is one personal holiday per fiscal year for excluded employees. To be eligible for a personal holiday, an employee must either be: (a) appointed to a class that requires a probationary period; (b) appointed to an exempt, nonseasonal position for more than six months; or (c) appointed to a Career Executive Assignment for more than six months. Once eligible employees complete six months of their initial probationary period or six months of service, they are credited with a personal holiday for the current fiscal year. The personal holiday for all other eligible employees will be credited on the first day of July for each fiscal year. If your personnel office staff have questions regarding the holidays, personal holiday, or Saturday holiday credit provisions, they may contact your department's Personnel Management Technician within the Classification and Compensation Division at the Department of Personnel Administration.
