   The Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) Law
   Booklet containing statute changes through January 1, 1997
   is now available.  The 1997 Laws can be obtained as
   follows:  
   
   Personnel Information Exchange (PIE) Bulletin Board -- The
   1997 Laws are now on the PIE.  The Laws can be
   viewed/downloaded from the PIE by:  1) selecting Policies
   & Regulations; 2) selecting View/Download Document; and 3)
   selecting DPA Laws.  Each document covers a separate
   chapter.  
   
   Diskettes -- You may receive the 1997 Laws on diskette at
   no charge.  The diskette will have both the WordPerfect
   5.2 and Microsoft Word 6.0 versions.  Please give Julie
   Lowe your name, mailing address, and phone number.  We
   should be ready to start this process within the next few
   weeks.
   
   Internet -- The California Codes are also available on the
   Internet.  There are 29 types of codes, including the
   Government Codes, on the Internet.  The Internet address
   is ftp://leginfo.public.ca.gov/pub/code.  
   
   Printed Copies -- A printed copy of the 1997 Laws is
   enclosed with this memo.  You may make additional copies,
   as needed by your organization.  A limited number of
   printed copies will be available for purchase from DPA at
   $6 per copy.  To purchase printed copies, please send a
   check made out to DPA along with your mailing address to
   Julie Lowe.
