In response to this, DPA is conducting informational forums on this subject. By way of this memorandum you are invited to attend one of two informational forums on the exempt appointment and salary process. There are roughly 1,000 full-time exempts at various levels in State Government. Many full-time exempts are appointed by the Governor, but every State board and commission may each make an exempt appointment. In addition, the elected constitutional officers may make a specific number of exempt appointments. DPA is responsible for the administration of this program. The forums will be held Wednesday, May 29, 1996, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesday, June 19, 1996, 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Resources Building Auditorium (located on the first floor of the building), 1416 9th Street, Sacramento, California. Staff from DPA s Classification and Compensation Division s Exempt Program and the Governor s Office will be there to provide program information and to answer your questions. So that we may accommodate all who express interest, please call the Classification and Compensation Division, Exempt Unit, at (916) 324-0439 to inform us of the forum date you plan to attend.
