State of California M E M O R A N D U M REFERENCE CODE: PML 96-005 DATE: February 15, 1996 TO: Personnel Officers FROM: Department of Personnel Administration Benefits and Training Division SUBJECT: Focus Groups CONTACT: Alda Ferreira, Savings Plus Program (916) 327-1092, CALNET 497-1092 Office Vision: DPA (AMFERREIRA) Internet: AMFERREIRA@SMTP.DPA.CA.GOV The Savings Plus Program (SPP) of the Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) is conducting a series of focus groups on how active employees and retirees feel about our program. Specialists from a national research firm will conduct a total of six (6) two-hour focus group sessions in Sacramento and San Demas during the last week of February and the first week of March. A maximum of ninety (90) individuals, who have been randomly selected, will be invited to participate in the focus groups. The ideas and opinions generated by the focus groups will help us develop a survey to be sent to randomly selected SPP participants. DPA believes that the deferred compensation plan is a very important benefit for employees. This survey is intended to determine how we can improve the program. Therefore, we are asking cooperation in allowing staff to attend the two-hour focus sessions during normal working hours, if they are selected to participate. While we recognize that this request may not be feasible in some situations, we believe that it will create minimal disruption in most offices. Your support of this effort is appreciated. Patricia Pavone, Chief Benefits and Training Division
