State of California M E M O R A N D U M TO: PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT LIAISONS DATE: December 2, 1994 Reference Code: 94-63 THIS MEMORANDUM SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED TO: Personnel Officers and Personnel Transactions Staff FROM: Department of Personnel Administration SUBJECT: Basic State Paid Life Insurance for Nonrepresented Employees New Eligibility CriteAa and Deduction Codes Effective July 1, 1994, the new eligibility criteria and deduction codes for the Basic Life Insurance for Nonrepresented Employees are as follows: ELIGIBILITY Eligible employees are active nonrepresented employees appointed permanent, CEA, Limited Term 6 months and over, or TAU in lieu of permanent, who work a one-half time or greater time base, and are designated: - Managerial (M), Supervisory (S), Confidential (C), E50, E88, E89, E97, E98, or E99; or - E90 in Class Codes 2545, 4189, 4232, 5309, 5316, 5319, and 5695; or E91 in Class Codes 5987, 5988, and 5991; or - E48, E58, E59, E68, E78, or E79 (Please note that employees who are either redesignated due to mid-management reductions or are newly appointed to these CBID's are eligible for the life insurance benefit.); or E01 through E21, E67, or E77 (Please note that only employees redesignated to these CBID's due to mid-management reductions are eligible for the life insurance benefit. Future incumbents in these CBID's are Rank and File and are not eligible.) Intermittents are eligible only if permanent. Retirees appointed under G.C. 21157 who meet the above requirements are also eligible. Personnel Management Liaisons December 2, 1994 -2- DEDUCTION CODES Please note that the Basic State-Paid Life Insurance for Nonrepresented Employees Deduction Code information, Sections 200.3 and 804 (dated May 1994), given in the Benefits Administrative Manual (BAM) is incorrect. Only eligible managerial employees redesignated to CBID's E01 through E21 will be enrolled under the new Deduction Code: 200 004. All other eligible employees will continue to be enrolled under Deduction Code: 200 003.
