Negri Human Resources Achievement Award is an annual award given by the Department of Personnel Administration (DPA). The purpose of this award is to provide you the opportunity to identify and recognize outstanding performance and achievement by the employee or unit in the field of Human Resources in your organization. Bob Negri began State employment in 1968 with the Department of Transportation, where he served as Chief of Employee Safety, Chief of Labor Relations, and until his death in December 1990, Chief of the Division of Personnel Management. During his career, Bob also served on the National Safety Council and worked with the American Association of State Transportation Officials providing consultation in the areas of personnel, training, labor relations, and safety. Bob was an acknowledged leader in the Human Resources field and played a key role in defining labor relations in State government. He was a member of the State's first negotiating team, a chief negotiator in subsequent labor negotiations and a respected advisor to colleagues and department directors. In the past, this award has been presented at the annual DPA Labor Relations/Personnel Conference held in December of each year. Because there will not be a conference this year, we will present the award on January 21, 2004 at a joint meeting of the Labor Relations Forum, the Personnel Ad Hoc Committee, SPIN, the Classification Supervisors Forum and the Transactions Supervisors Forum. The joint meeting, to begin at 9:00 a.m., will be held at the Employment Development Department Auditorium, 800 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814. We invite you to participate in the nomination process for this award by completing the attached form and returning it no later than December 31, 2003. Michael T. Navarro Interim Director Attachments will be distributed via mail.
