  A "Bargaining Unit 20 Scholarship Fund" of $250,000 was 
  established through the 2002-2003 collective bargaining 
  negotiations between the State of California and the 
  California State Employees Association (CSEA), Bargaining 
  Unit 20.  The purpose of the scholarship fund is to 
  encourage and assist bargaining unit employees to obtain a 
  license, certification or higher educational degrees in 
  nursing, teaching and related health care and education 
  professions through the provision of financial support.
  
  Scholarship awards may be used to cover expenses related to 
  attaining the license, certification or degree, including 
  but not limited to tuition, books and course related 
  materials.
  
  To be eligible for a Scholarship award the employee must 
  satisfy all of the following criteria.
  
  THE APPLICANT MUST:
  
  Be a State employee in any department and have 
  standard or better overall performance.
  
  Be a rank and file Unit 20 employee.  Have permanent 
  status (current or prior) in a Unit 20 classification.
  
  
  Be accepted to a State of California approved 
  vocational not license or certification program 
  accredited college or university with the goal and 
  course of study leading to a License, Certificate, 
  Associate, Bachelor's or higher degree in nursing, 
  teaching or related health care or education 
  profession.
  
  File a completed and legible application for 
  scholarship by the established cut-off date(s).
  
  Supervisory, managerial and other non-represented employees 
  are NOT currently eligible for Bargaining Unit 20 
  Scholarships.
