  On January 19, 2000, the State Personnel Board (SPB) 
  adopted five new printing trades class series.  These new 
  series include: Sheetfed Offset Press Operator, Webfed 
  Offset Press Operator, Digital Print Operator, Graphic 
  Designer, and Digital Composition Specialist.  These new 
  series significantly alter the manner in which printing and 
  graphic design positions were allocated in the State. 
  
  At the time SPB established the new series, State 
  departments were called upon to review existing printing 
  trades positions and, where appropriate, reallocate them 
  into classes within the new series.  For those departments 
  that have not done so, this is a reminder that the 
  reallocations should be done immediately based on the 
  duties performed as of the effective date of the SPB action 
  (February 1, 2000).  Series specifications as well as 
  allocation guidelines are available upon request.
