  The Association of California State Attorneys and 
  Administrative Law Judges (ACSA) and the State have two 
  agreements regarding confidential designations.  
  
  Under the terms of the first agreement, the Unemployment 
  Insurance Appeals Board (UIAB) may have four confidential 
  positions.  
  
  Under the terms of the second agreement, the State may 
  designate 36 additional positions as confidential.  These 
  positions are presently allocated among the departments as 
  follows.

  As vacancies occur in the above positions (with the 
  exception of UIAB), departments must secure approval from 
  Department of Personnel Administration (DPA) before 
  extending a confidential designation to new appointees.
