Military Leave - Time Off

For physical

You can take time off with pay to take a required physical exam before going on active duty.

For reserve duty (unpaid)

If you're in the reserve military or National Guard, you can take time off without pay to attend scheduled reserve drill periods or perform other inactive duty reserve obligations (GC 19774).

You can use your free time or vacation and/or any other leave credits except sick leave to cover your absence.

If your reserve obligations fall during your regular work shift and you give five working days notice to your department, your department will make every effort to accommodate you. Your department will try to change your schedule both to help you avoid using vacation and/or other leave credits, and to avoid docking your pay.
