Department of Personnel Administration

Robert L. Negri Human Resources Achievement Award

The Robert L. Negri Human Resources Achievement Award is presented annually by the Department of Personnel Administration to honor a State employee or organizational unit for outstanding performance and achievement in the field of human resources.

The award is named for Bob Negri, a Caltrans employee from 1968 to 1990. During his career at Caltrans, Bob served as chief of employee safety, chief of labor relations and, until his untimely death in December 1990, as chief of personnel management.

Bob was a widely respected leader in the human resources field and played a key role in defining labor relations in State government. He was a member of the State's first negotiating team, a chief negotiator in subsequent labor negotiations, and a trusted advisor to colleagues and department directors.

Recipients of this prestigious award exemplify Bob Negri's professionalism and commitment.
