 Employee Assistance Program
Effective July 1, 2004, the new toll-free number for State employees to call for EAP services is:

1-866-EAP-4SOC (1-866-327-4762)
TDD: 1-800-327-0801

Use these numbers any time of the day or night, seven days a week to get information on free counseling and other support services using your State-paid EAP benefit.

You also can access EAP services via DPA’s Web site. Click on Benefits > Employee Assistance Program > Online Member Services.

Our EAP phone number is changing because the company that delivers your EAP benefits is changing. The new company, Managed Health Network (MHN), has provided EAP services nationwide since 1974 and behavioral health programs since 1987.

Current EAP benefits remain the same, but some counselors may change.

While many current EAP providers also serve MHN clients, there may be instances where you need to change to a provider in the MHN network. Contact your current provider to find out if she or he already is part of MHN’s network. If a provider is not currently part of MHN’s network but would like to be, she or he should contact MHN Professional Relations at (800) 541-3353 to request an application, and indicate they currently service the State of California account.

New services will be added to your EAP benefit.

In addition to the services already available through EAP, the following enhancements will be added effective July 1, 2004:

Federal Tax Consultation – Help with IRS audits, and unfilled or past-due tax returns.

Retirement Planning – Lifestyle and financial guidance to help plan for retirement.

Organizing Life’s Affairs – Help with organizing vital records and documents, or arranging “final details” for a loved one.

Concierge Services – Referrals for everyday errands, travel, event planning, and more.

Questions? Please contact your Departmental EAP Coordinator.
