After using this manual, please complete a short survey

About the Employee Assistance Program

DPA established the Employee Assistance Program in March 1982. EAP helps employees and their family members identify and get control of personal problems. Such problems can affect both family life and job performance.

Through direct counseling or referrals, EAP counselors can help employees with:

  • Family and marital difficulties
  • Problems with alcohol or drugs
  • Feelings of stress
  • Depression

By referring employees to community resources, EAP can also help with:

  • Financial matters
  • Child and elder care issues
  • Legal matters

DPA's Benefits Division maintains a master agreement with Managed Health Network. Managed Health Network provides EAP services for participating departments. Departments not participating in the master agreement must provide their employees with assessment and referral services under an internal program.

Authority

  • Governor's Executive Order B96-82
  • Government Code 19816.16
  • DPA Rule 599.931 - Non-Represented Employees
  • Memoranda of Understanding - Rank and File Employees
